POST-TRADE AND INVESTMENT FUNDS. Paul Bodart is an independent Board member of Dexia and a member of the ECB’s Target 2 Securities Board. Until 2012, he was CEO of Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV, the bank subsidiary responsible for securities services of the world’s largest global custodian by assets. He was also Executive Vice President of the group and a member of the Executive Team. Previously in his career, he held senior positions at JP Morgan and at Banque Européenne pour l’Amérique Latine, a subsidiary of Generale Bank and ABN AMRO. Mr. Bodart has been an active participant in European public affairs for many years.
INVESTMENT BANKING. Yassine Boudghene is Head of Joint Supervisory Team at the European Central Bank. He previously worked at the European Investment Bank (Financial Policy), and has held various functions in the financial industry, including at Fortis Bank and ABN AMRO. He was also Associate Director at Debt Capital Markets (DCM) group where he advised, structured and executed bond issues, private placements, syndicated loans and structured finance transactions for several companies. During the financial crisis, Mr. Boudghene was a member of the European Commission’s Financial Crisis Task Force, where he advised on issues such as State measures to relieve banks from “toxic assets”, State recapitalizations, bank restructuring and resolution frameworks. Mr. Boudghene is Lecturer at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and in Vietnam.
PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS AND MATHEMATICS. Micael Castanheira is Professor of Economics at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. He also teaches at Louvain and Namur universities. He taught previously macroeconomics at Bocconi University (Milan). Mr. Castanheira has published extensively in international journals on various economic topics. He is Scientific Advisor for the Institut des Comptes Nationaux (Belgian Ministry of Economy) and was Director of the European Network for Training in Economic Research (ENTER) from 2006 to 2011. He is a member of the Institut Belge des Finances Publiques.
HEDGE FUNDS. Gregory Chouette is a Partner at Landy Partners, an advisory business specialized in Hedge Funds investment, Risk Management and Portfolio Construction. Gregory was previously Head of Multi Asset Investment Risk at Schroders, in which capacity he oversaw assets under management of over £50 billion. He set up and chaired the Product Investment Committee process at Schroders which undertakes portfolio review across all Multi Asset desks worldwide. He held previously various positions in Schroders, New Finance Capital LLP and BNP Paribas, most recently as Head of Risk Management and Quantitative Research at Schroders New Finance Capital. Gregory is a CFA charter holder.
INVESTMENT BANKING. Eric De Keuleneer is the CEO of CREDIBE (formerly known as Office Central de Crédit Hypothécaire). He is Professor of Finance and of Regulation at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and in Vietnam. He is also Executive Director of the University Foundation, and a member of the boards of various public and private institutions. Previously in his career, he worked in Kredietbank Luxembourg, where he was Department Head of Capital Markets. He later ran the Corporate Department and then the Corporate and Investment Banking Department at Generale Bank (presently Fortis). He has written extensively on financial and regulatory matters.
ECB, CENTRAL BANKS AND FINANCIAL MARKETS. Mathias Dewatripont is Executive Director at the National Bank of Belgium, responsible for prudential policy and financial stability. He is a member of the Board of Supervisors of the European Banking Authority, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the Committee of the Global Financial System. Mr Dewatripont holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University, 1986. From 1990 until 2011, he was Professor of Economics at ULB. He was part-time Visiting Professor at MIT and Research Director of CEPR (1998 to 2011). Fellow of the Econometric Society, laureate of the 1998 Francqui Prize and of the 2003 Yrjo Jahnsson Prize for Economics, he was elected President of the European Economic Association for 2005. He was also outside Director of CGER-Bank (1992-1999). He is member of the Académie Royale De Belgique and Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Science. He was President, then Dean of the Solvay Brussels School (2009-2011). His research has concerned incentive theory, industrial organization and banking and finance. He has (co-)authored articles as well as books, including Contract Theory (with P. Bolton, MIT Press, 2005), Balancing the Banks: Global Lessons from the Financial Crisis (with J.C. Rochet and J. Tirole, Princeton Univ. Press, 2010) and Bailing Out the Banks: Reconciling Stability and Competition (with T. Beck, D. Coyle, X. Freixas and P. Seabright, CEPR, 2010).

Benoît Daenen is Deputy Head of Private Banking of Bank Degroof Petercam. He is also director Degroof Petercam Asset Management, Degroof Petercam Asset Services, Degroof Petercam Spain and France.
OVERVIEW OF FINANCIAL MARKETS AND REGULATION PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE MARKET. Pierre Francotte is a member of the College of Resolution of banks, within the National Central Bank of Belgium. He has been also an independent Board member of Belfius Bank (formerly named Dexia Bank Belgium) and is a Senior Advisor at Kreab Gavin Anderson. He was CEO of Euroclear group from 2000 until 2010, after having held several senior positions in the company since 1993. Prior to this, he was an Assistant General Counsel at the International Monetary Fund, where he worked for over 10 years. He was Chairman of the ECMI-CEPS Task Force on MiFID Review in 2011-12, which made recommendations on behalf of market participants to the European Commission on the MiFID review. Pierre Francotte has been Professor at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management since 2011, where he teaches on the functioning of financial markets and on financial governance and regulation.
FINANCIAL INFRASTRUCTURES. Judith Hardt is Managing Director of the Swiss Finance Council. She has been the Secretary General of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE). FESE represents the interests of operators of the European regulated markets and other market segments, comprising the markets for securities, financial derivatives and energy and commodity derivatives at European level. Judith is also the Vice Chair of the ESMA’s Securities Markets Stakeholder Group.
EUROPEAN FINANCIAL INTEGRATION. Mario Nava is Director of the ‘Financial Institutions’ directorate in the FISMA (Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union) DG of the European Commission, and he represents the European Commission at the Basel Committee of Banking Supervision. He previously held various senior positions in the European Commission, including notably the functions of Head of the ‘Banking and Financial Conglomerates’ unit, and previously Head of the “Financial Markets Infrastructure” Unit and Acting Director for the Financial Services Policy and Financial Markets Directorate. He has also been a member of the Group of Policy Advisers of the EU Commission President, Prof. Romano Prodi from 2001 to 2004 and of Commissioner Monti’s Cabinet in 2000-2001. Alongside his work at the Commission, Mr. Nava is active in research and teaching. Since 1998, he has been a regular visiting professor at Milan’s BocconiUniversity, a member of the Economic Faculty of ISPI, Milan (Diplomatic School of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and occasional lecturer in many universities across Europe, Latin America and Russia.
HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF FINANCE AND FINANCIAL CRISES. Kim Oosterlinck is Professor of Finance at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (Université Libre de Bruxelles). Following his Ph. D at the SBS-EM, he went as postdoctoral researcher at Rutgers University (The State University of New Jersey) where he worked, among others, with Michael Bordo and Eugene N. White. Most of his articles are dedicated to financial and economic history. More precisely, Kim Oosterlinck has published several articles on the evolution of sovereign bond prices during major crises (revolutions, wars, repudiations, country break-up) and on war finance. He also works on issues related to the art market and economics of arts and culture in general.
CORPORATE REPORTING. Robert Peirce has been a senior audit partner at PwC and an accredited Belgian financial services auditor for more than 25 years. As such, he has been serving many domestic and multinational quoted corporations reporting under European, International or US accounting and financial standards. He built his international experience through secondments in the UK and in the US and through regular assignments in South America, Eastern Europe and India. Admitted to partnership in 1987, he has, amongst others, led the Belgian audit firm, managed its financial services practice, launched its forensic practice and thereafter chaired the firm’s governance board for eight years. Besides his professional career path, Robert lectured auditing at Louvain School of Management and financial instruments’ accounting and control at St Louis University Faculties in Brussels. Prior to that, he taught financial and managerial accounting at Boston University-Brussels. Since he retired from his professional service firm in June 2012, Robert has been providing expert knowledge to audit committees and executive boards. As honorary Chairman of the Registered Auditors accredited for Financial Institutions and fellow of the European Corporate Reporting Policy Group, he is also regularly consulted on corporate, governance and regulatory matters. He is moreover holding a seat at the disciplinary board and at the admission committee of the Belgian Institute of Registered Auditors.
CORPORATE FINANCE AND ASSET VALUATION. Hugues Pirotte is Professor of finance at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. He previously taught at the University of Lausanne. He is also co-founder and CEO of FinMetrics,a firm based in Switzerland developing dashboard solutions, providing financial management advice and training practitioners in risk management in the wider sense. Hugues has taught and advised on complex financial instruments’ pricing, hedge funds and funds of hedge funds, risk management and governance, strategic wealth management, and corporate finance in general. Hugues has more than 15 years of experience in teaching, advising, implementing financial solutions and research production. He is a member of the BEL20 Committee and co-founder of the Finance Club of Brussels, a dedicated club to the financial community in Brussels.
FINANCIAL INFRASTRUCTURES. Yves Poullet is a member of the Management Committee of Euroclear Group. He has been CEO of Euroclear Bank, the largest International CSD in the world, in which capacity he was directly responsible for the Operations, Client Service, Banking and Network Management divisions. Previously, Mr. Poullet headed Euroclear Bank’s Operations division, as well as Euroclear Bank’s Network Management group. Mr. Poullet joined Euroclear in 1991 and held a number of senior positions in the Finance and Risk Management divisions. He was influential in the smooth transition to the euro, before his move to the Corporate Strategy & Product Management division. In 2001, he relocated to Euroclear France in Paris as Deputy General Manager, returning to Brussels in 2002. Since 2007, Mr Poullet has also been overseeing the Lean programme at Euroclear group level.
EUROPEAN FINANCIAL INTEGRATION. André Sapir is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, where he holds a chair in International Economics and European Integration at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. He is also Senior Fellow of Bruegel, the Brussels-based think tank. In addition, he has served as Chair of the Advisory Scientific Committee and as a voting member of the General Board of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). From 2005 to 2009 he was member of the Economic Advisory Group to European Commission President José Manuel Barroso. Previously, he has been working for 12 years for the European Commission, first serving as Economic Advisor to the Director-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, then as Economic Advisor to President Romano Prodi. He has published many books and scientific articles. André Sapir received a PhD in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.
RISK AND RISK MANAGEMENT IN FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS. Andrew Threadgold is Head of Market Risk (Americas) at Deutsche Bank. He was previously Head of Market Risk (Americas) at the Royal Bank of Scotland and Head of Risk and Compliance – Institutional at Fidelity, Group Head of Market Risk at UBS, and Head of Risk Management at Euroclear. He held various senior positions at JP Morgan both on the risk management side, including Head of Investment Banking Markets Valuation and Risk, Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at JP.Morgan in New York, and CRO Asia Pacific in Tokyo, and on the business side, including Chief Operating Officer for Equity Derivatives in London, and Head of Structured Products Group in New York. Andrew also managed trading units in various market sectors. He is an advisor to the Risk Policy Committee at Euroclear. He is a former Board member of various infrastructures including FICC and Euroclear. He was also a contributor to the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group II and has served as arbitrator for the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB).
PRINCIPLES OF FINANCE. Céline Vaessen is General Advisor of the Belgian Federal Holding and Investment Company, managing the Belgian State shares in financial institutions which benefited from State aid. Previously, Céline has been an investment banker responsible for financial institutions coverage in Benelux for 4 years. Céline is teaching Corporate Finance principles at the Executive Master in Finance and tutorials at the MBA of the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management.
COMPETITION POLICY IN FINANCIAL MARKETS. Patrick J.G. Van Cayseele has been since 1994 Full Professor at the K.U.Leuven, where he currently also is Associate Dean for Research Affairs of the Faculty of Economics and Management. He has held the position of Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Maastricht (Netherlands), and Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University (US). He has been Visiting Professor at F.U.N.D.P. He lectured for shorter periods of time at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid and at the University of Gerona in Spain. From 2005 until 2011, he also held the chair of professor in Industrial Organisation and Competition Policy at the University of Amsterdam (UVA). Between 1993 and 2005, he served as an expert member to the Belgian Antitrust Authority. He has been providing economic advice and has testified as an expert in dozens of antitrust cases ranging from mergers over abuse of dominance, state aid and price fixing. He has published extensively, including books and contributions of chapters to books on the Economics of Antitrust and Competition Policy. With a special focus on banking and the financial services industry, his research resulted in field journal articles published in Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Insurance, Mathematics and Economics, as well as in general journal publications such as articles in the Review of Economics and Statistics , European Economic Review and Games and Economic Behaviour.
BANKING AND INSURANCE.Rudi Vander Vennet is full professor of financial economics and banking at Ghent University, Chairman of the department of financial economics and programme Director of the postgraduate Master in Banking and Finance. His research interests include European banking, risk management, monetary integration and economic policy. He has published large parts of his research in leading academic and professional journals. He has a broad experience as an economic and banking expert, e.g. as (past) member of the Board of Directors of financial firms, as member of the Belgian High Finance Council, as member of the Bank Stakeholder Group of the European Banking Authority and as policy advisor.
BANKING AND INSURANCE. Johan Vankelecom is CFO and member of the Management Board of Belfius Bank (formerly known as Dexia Bank Belgium). He held previously various functions on banking and/or insurance sides within Dexia, including in Dexia Bank Belgium (Treasury and Public Finance) and in the Dexia Group (Capital Management and Mergers & Acquisitions).
